End of an Era

Yesterday, the last Ford Crown Victoria rolled off of the assembly line at Ford’s St. Thomas Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada.

The Crown Victoria name was introduced in 1955, as part of the Fairlane range. It only lasted two years, ending in ‘56.

It was re-introduced in 1979 as the LTD Crown Victoria, on the Panther platform.

The Crown Vic (as many affectionately call it) was made into it’s own model in 1992, with a 4.6L Modular V8.

Since 1992, the Crown Victoria has been a staple in Taxi services and
Police departments across the US, and other parts of the world.

The final Crown Victoria, VIN (vehicle identification number)
2FABP7CW8CX104292, rolled off of the line yesterday afternoon at
12:30 pm.

The car is destined for Saudi Arabia, going to a customer there who
ordered it for their own private use. This makes it one of a very few
final examples of a nameplate to not head to a museum.

As one can say, the fat lady has sung, and it is the end for an American legend.

Rest in peace, Crown Victoria. You will be missed.

Well...since you asked. (just choose 2011, then Ford, then Crown Victoria FFV)

16 MPG city, 24 MPG highway, 19 MPG combined. Pretty good for a car that has had the same chassis and engine since 1992.
